Cool

Haviong worked in the restaurant business for what seems to be an eternity, I've worked a ton of New years Eve's Sean.

But, I have a little thing I've been doing for years that I suggest you might try.

A minute or so before midnight, run outside, just get out of the building completely if you can.
Why, uou may be asking yourself?
Well, that's easy.
It';s so you dont end the previous year and start the new one at work. So you dont turn over a calender year in the office or whatever.
You dont wanna be able to say that you spent two minutes at work that duing which you turned over an entire year do you?
Me neither.
It's kind of silly and stupid, but I do it every year that I have to work on New Years eve.
Reguardless of the job, I do it anywho.
Think of it as a moment in time that you cannot replicate.
For that 1 moment when you change over the calender, you dont wanna be working? Do you?

Works best with a beer or glass of something either bubbly or strong in your hand.,

Cool

Sorry Folks, but it sounds like the Bootsey show has been cancelled for New Years eve.

Apparrently one of sponsers or promoters backed out.

Here's another idea if you are planning to ring in the new year with your kids.
Sprite or Sierra mist can be used for the midnight toast (no caffiene, wont keep them awake any longer).
It bubbles, it sorta looks champagne-ish and it lets them be part of it.
Some actually do it a little earlier than midnight.

Make it last.
If you go out first, maybe pick up some ice cream on the way home or something.
If you just have people over, dont bring out the big party items right away. Snack stuff firts, then work your way up a bit. It builds up the "main event" and keeps the party rollin along.

Make sure you bring some mints or gum.
Midnight smooches should not taste of onion dip
(not a bad move to have a bottle of of mouthwash (even those trila size ones) and a stack of dixie cups in the bathroom

Dont overdo it, if you are having ten people over, dont make enough food for 30.

And whatever you do. Remember to have some playing cards and maybe something for the kids to do (games or something)
Trust me, you'll be glad you did!

I intend to spend New Years soundly asleep and preparing to work the next day.

In other words, having to work 12 hours today (7Am to 7:30PM) then repeat on Sunday means I'll be celebrating the inside of my eyelids. And I'll shoot the first fucker that detonates a firecracker outside my window.

Have a nice day!

And since we've pass the midnight hour in Eastern Australia, it';s ok to raise your glass and say Happy New Year at any time today.
Why?

Because for the rest of the day, it's gonna be midnight somewhere

Here's the world clock so you can see who's celebrating now and who's counting down the minutes to celebrate next.
WORLD CLOCK

You can pretty much see the time for every area of the globe represented and watch as the midnight hour rolls tword you.

Happy New Year.
